Macau

Macau, China 56504210

Macau (i/məˈkaʊ/; 澳門; 澳门; literally: "Bay Gate"), (in Portuguese, which is still widely used in the city) also spelled Macao (in English), officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous territory on the western side of the Pearl River Delta in East Asia. Macau is bordered by the city of Zhuhai in China to the North and the Pearl River Estuary to the East and South. Hong Kong lies about 64 kilometres (40 mi) to its East across the Delta. With a population of 650,900 living in an area of 30.5 km2 (11.8 sq mi), it is the most densely populated region in the world.

Macau was administered by the Portuguese Empire and its inheritor states from the mid-16th century until late 1999, when it constituted the last remaining European colony in Asia. Portuguese traders first settled in Macau in the 1550s. In 1557, Macau was rented to Portugal from Ming China as a trading port. The Portuguese Empire administered the city under Chinese authority and sovereignty until 1887, when Macau, through a mutual agreement between the two countries, became a colony. Sovereignty over Macau was transferred back to China on 20 December 1999. The Joint Declaration on the Question of Macau and Macau Basic Law stipulate that Macau operate with a high degree of autonomy until at least 2049, fifty years after the transfer.

Under the policy of "one country, two systems", the State Council of the People's Republic of China is responsible for military defense and foreign affairs while Macau maintains its own legal system, public security force, monetary system, customs policy, and immigration policy. Macau participates in international organizations and events that do not require members to possess national sovereignty.

Macau is among the world's richest regions, and as of 2015 its GDP per capita by purchasing power parity is higher than that of any country in the world, according to the World Bank. It became the world's largest gambling centre in 2006, with the economy heavily dependent on gambling and tourism, as well as manufacturing. According to The World Factbook, Macau has the fourth highest life expectancy in the world. Moreover, it is one of the regions in Asia with a "very high Human Development Index", ranking 18th in the world as of 2014.

Summary

Macau is a region of China which boasts a remarkably high GDP in addition to incredible population density. The overall wealth of Macau is a notable aspect, with funds derived from gambling and tourism supporting a flourishing upper class. Macau is host to a wide variety of international travelers and businessmen, traveling to Macau for vacations or business ventures. Additionally, the nature of the city makes less-than-savory business ventures more accessible. The multitude of casinos renders Macau the Chinese equivalent of Las Vegas, with neon lights dominating the skyline and fortunes found and lost in an evening. Macau's extremely dense population also makes blending into the crowds child's play.

Macau's legendary gambling centers are hubs for unusual activity, playing host to the more unusual visitors. Hotels and tourism centers are mainstays of the city, as well as the trading ports the region was historically known for. Macau's nightclubs and bars are recurring meeting spots for luxurious spenders and international crime bosses alike, with secret societies filling the gutters as well as the high-rise apartments. Macau is a city of intrigue, built on the exchange of goods and the wonder of tourism.

The Cotai Strip is the newest addition to the gambling enterprise in Macau, farther away from the packed markets and flashing city lights.

Geography, Climate, Economy, Atmosphere

Macau, China 56503910

Macau exists in a humid, sub-tropical climate, sprawling across the coast of Southern China and boasting a collection of towering skyscrapers and hotels. The mixture of cultures between Portugal and China has created a unique aesthetic, blending East and West with an emphasis on luxury. The extreme population density renders the street level crowded, roads packed to the brim with cars and bikes.

Macau's criminal element is growing as vigilante activities increase in the United States. A variety of metahumans have been reported as being present in the area, particularly the technology-based ones whose capital allows them to experience the high life of Macau. The casinos are highly secure against potential extranormal cheaters, with extensive vetting and cheat-prevention systems preventing psychics and probability manipulators from rigging games. A metahuman prison is currently in development to serve independently from the normal one.

Macau's status a tax haven stems from its geographic location as well as policies towards foreigners. Corporations which set up shop in Macau have the potential to save a bundle avoiding taxation, and a corrupt government occasionally turning a blind eye makes amplifying one's wealth simple. A network of spies and saboteurs has evolved along with the city, supercorporations employing all manner of industrial agents to shoulder advantages over their competitors.

Caspian may have been here officially on business, and that would be true, he was here to establish some a deal with another company for resources. But it was night time right now, and there was no meetings going on. And the Grim Reaper never sleeps.

He stood with ease on the edge of the building as he looked below. People. Humans. Mortals. They will all die eventually, when their time comes. One by one, continuing the human race but not their own lives. Even we have a mortality of our own, but we do not die. We simply go back to Anubis. Caspian contemplated as he looked down on them, his eyes locked onto a policeman, he didn't know why, but he felt he was the one who needed to go now, You have been chosen mortal. Death is coming for you, and I am here to dish it out.

Macau, China GiphyHe dropped from the sky like a falcon, diving down in utter silence. Screams were heard below as people noticed, but it wouldn't matter, by the time the officer even moved to face Caspian he'd find a blade through his throat.

People screamed, some video'd, others called the police. But most of them were useless. In a moment Caspian would be gone, but first he was waiting to see signs of police or combat. He wanted to know how long it'd take before someone did something about the man in white with a corpse at his feet. He kept his head down, and used his Mystical aura to shade it, making his face impossible to decipher.

China.

The Soviet Superman had been heartened to hear that the nation was now a Communist one, when he awoke. But upon some further inspection, it had become clear that redistribution of wealth was far from the goal of the current government.

Nevertheless, the pale soldier had found himself in the world's most populous nation anyways. As it happened, he was there at the same time, in the same place, that @Caspian executed a police officer.

He'd been wearing a hood, to cover his face, while he walked the streets of Macau, but he threw it back now, and drew from inside his jacket a hand-gun, leveling it at Caspian. He didn't say a word, just took careful aim, and fired at the white-robed man's right kneecap, intending to cripple and capture him.

Caspian as made quickly aware as he saw someone throw back their hood and draw a gun, Well that's very unusual. He thought with surprise as he leapt to the side and rolled in order to get behind some of the other citizens to avoid the shot as it sped beside his knee leaving a tear and burn mark. He leapt to his feet locking his eyes on the man, Not many people carry firearms around here, the law just doesn't normally allow it. Alright, we'll make this short. The police will be making their way here very soon so our actions must be swift or we'll both end up under much worse circumstances. He thought drawing a dagger in one hand and enchanting it and suddenly sending a smaller one flying with his other hand aimed towards this surprise.

The knife sailed through the air at speed, and impacted in Grigori's chest before he could react. He didn't so much as twitch, as he yanked the blade out of his body and threw it aside. His orders had been explicitly clear- capture any potential para-human subjects and return them to the lab for study. With no one to study them, Grigori might have to perform the vivisection himself, but that was amenable to him as well.

Within a half-second, the knife wound in Grigori's chest began to heal itself, even as he took aim once again, intending to shoot through the Alabaster Assassin's human shields, to the man himself. He intended to hit Caspian non-lethally, but his orders said nothing about civilians.

@Motherland:
Caspian rushed behind a wall as another ripped right over his back drawing blood. He breathed in, and slipped through the wall as he stepped backwards shifting through the wall and rushing through until he came out of the other side of the building and behind the russian, enchanting one of his blades he sent it soaring through the air towards the russians spine, followed by one right after aimed towards his elbow. The enchantment was meant to greatly increase their durability, make them absurdly sharp, and damaging to magical and supernatural beings. Although he couldn't really be sure the latter part would do any good, it was there instinctively.

He pushed his foot against the ground and ran full speed at the russian, dropping to the ground to slide along it as he intended to use the enchanted blade in his other hand to cut through his legs. He didn't want to go straight at him after seeing the mans wound heal so quickly, and the fact this man was huge and sometimes that was a bad sign, he knew that due to his own family. Dropping made it far less likely for him to get shot, or grabbed for that matter.

I wasn't really expecting some other sort of superhuman here. He might be trouble. If this...healing ability of his is effective enough, it's possible I'll be forced to retreat. He didn't even seem phased by the first one and he has no trouble killing citizens either.

The pale soldier didn't make a move to dodge out of the way, as Caspian's knives hit home. On pure reflex, he dropped his gun, when the knife went through his elbow, and sank to his knees as his spine took the second blade. He was healing in seconds, as he pushed himself back up on his feet, picking up the firearm as he did so.

The crowd had dispersed, as the gunshots had been fired, and already sirens could be heard in the distance. The local police, no doubt. Grigori took a look around, trying to assess the situation, when Caspian rushed him. The assassin's blade cleaved right through his legs, causing his torso to fall to the ground. He didn't react, even with a double-amputation, simply trying to prop himself up with his arms, as his legs began to regrow. If Caspian was still in his line of sight, he'd fire off a few more rounds, though with reduced aim, thanks to his injured state.

Caspian misstepped on a dropped purse as he moved to get out of the way and one of them ran into his shoulder as he ducked behind a wall. He could hear the sirens, and this guy didn't seem to be going down any time soon. Every attack seemed to merely delay him very temporarily.

He stepped out and looked at him, his face remained hidden, but the game was almost over, he didn't have time for this, "Guìxìing?" [Your name?] Caspian asked in Chinese. At any moment, he was prepared to slip out of this dimension and away like a ghost, simply walk behind a wall and be gone. But first he had to know if this man was going to be a threat, he pointed to himself, "Grim Reaper. Shîshén"
